Rules & Guidelines
Parent & Student Expectations and Responsibilities
In order for our host organization, Calvary Baptist Church, and all who participate to have a positive experience with Transylvania Homeschool Co-op, the THC board has devised some guidelines of conduct. We deeply appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping to make the Co-op a productive, beneficial and valued experience for everyone! The guidelines are as follows:
Parent Expectations
In order to function as a cooperative, Transylvania Homeschool Co-op expects parents to:
Parent Responsibilities
Participation: If not teaching a class, every parent will be asked to help where needed. On the Registration Form there is a space where parents can write their job preference. The Transylvania Homeschool Co-op Board will do their best to honor your choice of certain jobs, however, the board will need to look at the whole co-op’s needs and place parents accordingly. If the parent is not a coordinator or teacher, then he/ she will be assigned to be a teacher’s assistant either in a class-room or wherever is deemed necessary by the Volunteer Coordinator.
In case of parent absences: Please notify the Volunteer Coordinator if you are going to be absent, but be aware that it is your responsibility to make every effort to find another parent to substitute for you. If you are the teacher, please provide your substitute with the needed materials to teach the class prior to co-op day or have an activity/lesson plan on file at co-op in case of emergencies. If you are not a teacher, it is still important for us to know that you won’t be attending that day (we are depending on your help during the day!).
Student Expectations
Transylvania Homeschool Co-op expects our students to:
Thank you all in advance for your patience & cooperation!

Parent Expectations
In order to function as a cooperative, Transylvania Homeschool Co-op expects parents to:
- Respect the other members of the co-op. This includes leaders, teachers, children, and visitors.
- Read all material given to them. Written material, electronic and printed, is the primary method of communication for our co-op.
- Adhere to the plans of action and policies that are in place, so that our co-op may flow smoothly, with harmony between its members and our host facility.
- Come prepared to help where needed. “Many hands make light work.”
- Review with your children their expected responsibilities during co-op.
- If required, provide your children with the needed supplies for co-op day & ensure homework is completed before the next co-op day. Teachers work hard to teach your children. You can show your appreciation by ensuring their work is being done & they are prepared for class.
- Agree to the No “Drop Off” Rule. Parents must escort their child(ren) to their first class.
