Session Dates
Dates for Spring 2013 co-op classes are:
- January 1-31 - Teacher Applications accepted
- February 8-10 - Early Online Registration (teachers only)
- February 11-15 - General Online Registration
- February 15 - In-person Registration from 2:00-4:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church
- Class Dates: March 1, 8, 15, 22, (Easter break), April 12, 19, 26, May 3
Class Offerings Spring 2013
First Hour (2:00-3:00):
Real-Life Math: Ages 11-14
2 Assistants; Class Limit 12; Supply fee - $5
Students will work in groups to perform investigations that will help them recognize some of the math in the world around them. Math concepts will include geometry, measurement, computation, probability, statistics, estimation, spatial reasoning, percents, patterns and relationships, and logic.
Second Hour (3:00-4:00):
Communications: Ages 11 & up
1-2 Assistants; Class Limit 10; Supply fee - $2
“Communication focuses on how people use messages to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media. The field of communication promotes the effective and ethical practice of human communication.” This class is open to any student ages 11 and up, but will be based on the requirements for the BSA Communications Merit Badge. For all students, there will be some assignments/activities to be prepared outside of class. For Boy Scouts who wish to earn this Eagle-required badge, some requirements will need to be completed independently or within their troop. These requirements will not be necessary for non-Scouts.
